Your Questions, Answered

  • You don't need a referral to book an appointment with us for physiotherapy or rehabilitation services. If your injury is covered by ACC, we can handle your claim—there's no need to see your GP before reaching out.

  • During your initial assessment, we will begin by having a detailed conversation about your medical history, lifestyle, and any symptoms you are currently experiencing. This discussion helps us to understand your unique situation and tailor the assessment to your specific needs.

Following this, a series of physical assessments may be conducted to evaluate your range of motion, strength, and flexibility. These evaluations provide us with valuable information about your current physical capabilities and any limitations you may have.

We will also take the time to explain your condition, outline the proposed treatment plan, and offer practical strategies for managing your symptoms at home. Our aim is to empower you with knowledge and tools to support your recovery.

Treatment will commence during your first appointment. Depending on your specific needs, this may involve manual therapy, acupuncture, or other techniques specially selected to support your rehabilitation and well-being.

  • Online payment provides a convenient and efficient method for settling physiotherapy and rehabilitation service fees.

  • Parking is available outside Centred Studios in the Humphries Drive car park, accessible via Humphries Drive or Tidal View.

  • It is advisable to wear comfortable, loose-fitting attire to facilitate unrestricted movement during your session. If you are experiencing a lower body injury, we recommend bringing shorts to enable your physiotherapist to perform a thorough assessment and provide effective treatment for the affected area.

  • For private individuals:

The fee is  $120 (including GST) for each 1 hour physio session.

    For ACC individuals:

There is a surcharge of $70 (including GST) for each 1 hour physio session and $40 (including GST) for a 30-minute session.

ACC will then pay the remaining fee.

Please note that claim acceptance by ACC is not guaranteed, and where the claim is declined, private treatment fees will apply.

  • Yes, you can — however, there are certain ACC regulations that apply specifically to physiotherapy.

    • Only 16 treatments are allocated per claim in total (regardless of where or with whom these treatments are received)

    • A 12-month expiry date on physiotherapy cover. This means that if your claim is more than 12 months old, the claim may no longer be valid for physiotherapy treatment (although it is still valid for other medical providers).

Under some circumstances we can apply to ACC for more treatments.

  • We can check how many ACC treatments you have left, but we can’t confirm this at your first visit as this can be time consuming with ACC helpline. If you pay the ACC surcharge at your first visit but your claim has expired or all allocated treatments have already been used, the remaining balance will be charged at the standard private fee.

  • Should your injury require further investigation, we can arrange a referral to a specialist. This will be discussed with you to ensure you receive the most appropriate care and assessment.

  • If your physiotherapist believes an X‑ray or ultrasound is necessary, they can provide you with a referral so you can organise to have the imaging completed. The results from the imaging will be sent directly back to the physio.
However, for more complex injuries an MRI maybe required. An MRI referral can only be completed by a specialist or sports doctor. We can refer you to the specialist and this will be discussed with you prior.
